Cheap Flights from the UK to Dhaka and Sylhet: Eid and Family Travel Guide
Millions of journeys are made each year between the UK and Bangladesh, and prices jump at Eid, Christmas and in the summer holidays. Here's how to find cheaper flights to Dhaka and Sylhet.
Airlines and Routes from the UK to Bangladesh
Non-stop and direct: Biman Bangladesh Airlines is the national airline and operates from London Heathrow to Dhaka (DAC), with some services also serving Sylhet (ZYL). Biman has also served Manchester. Schedules change, so ask us for the current timetable.
One-stop: Emirates (via Dubai), Qatar Airways (via Doha), Turkish Airlines (via Istanbul) and Etihad (via Abu Dhabi) all connect the UK with Dhaka, and several also serve Sylhet or Chattogram. These are available from London and many regional airports, including Manchester and Birmingham.
Booking Flights for Eid
Eid is the biggest peak on UK to Bangladesh routes. Eid dates move about 11 days earlier each year. In 2027, Eid al-Fitr is expected around 9 to 10 March and Eid al-Adha around 16 to 17 May, depending on the moon sighting.
- Book 3 to 5 months ahead for Eid travel.
- Flying out 10 to 14 days before Eid, rather than in the final week, is often cheaper.
- Returning a week or more after Eid avoids the return rush.
Baggage Tips for Bangladesh Flights
Baggage allowances differ a lot between airlines and fare types on this route. Before comparing prices, check how many bags each passenger gets and the weight per bag. Remember that a single bag over 32kg is generally not accepted at UK airports. Read our full baggage guide.
How to Save on Flights to Dhaka and Sylhet
- Compare Biman's direct service with Gulf and Turkish connections.
- Check Manchester and Birmingham, not just London.
- Travel in the quieter months: late January to February (outside Ramadan and Eid), and September to November.
- Large families and groups: ask about group fares.
Entry Documents
British passport holders generally need a visa or a "No Visa Required" (NVR) endorsement, if eligible, to enter Bangladesh. Rules change, so check with the Bangladesh High Commission in London and GOV.UK Foreign Travel Advice before you travel.
